Mandala

Mandala (literally ‘a circle’) is a tantric meditation device. It is a visual aid for concentration and introverted meditation, which leads to the attainment of insights and activation powers that culminate in “Siddhi”, supernatural powers. The mandala is a graphic representation of this process. It is not only theoretical, but also practical as an operational scheme that includes a clear plan for the practical implementation of the process in itself. It becomes an instrument (Yantra). There are many types and variations of mandalas that depend on the nature of the central deity. The most classic pattern of mandalas is the Dhyani Buddha. This pattern appears in the oldest tantras, the mandala represents the “Palace of Purity”, the magical sphere of spiritual obstacles and cleansed of impurities. The square of the actual sacred palace is divided into several circles of flame, vajra, eight cemeteries (appears only in wrathful deities), lotus, then the inner square to reach the deity of the mandala.
